Titanium Knives for Divers

Titanium knives, obviously, are made of titanium. If we look it up in Wikipedia, we will find out that titanium, on the one hand, is a chemical element, but, on the other hand, it is a metal. Since this article is about titanium knives, the fact that titanium is a chemical element with atomic number 22 is not useful for us. But titanium as a metal is a good subject for review.

The metal with the silver color

What kind of metal is it? What are its features? Titanium has a low density, and this means the metal is light because density is a concentration of molecules in the body and when it's low, the metal is light and ductile. Titanium has an excellent resistance to corrosion. It does not react even with salt water because of the passive and protective oxide coating that keeps the metal intact. Moreover, titanium has a high tensile strength, and its strength-to-weight ratio is one of the highest among other metals. The strength of titanium is equal to some steel alloys, but it's higher, as we already mentioned. Concerning the appearance of the titanium - it is a lustrous metal of silver color.

Titanium knives: the advantages

Titanium knives are the strongest as compared to other types, but they are the most expensive also. You can use them almost in every sphere of life: for production, cooking, farming, hunting, and fishing as well. Anyway, if you ever hesitated about what knife to choose, buy a titanium knife confidently and you will never regret this purchase because titanium knife is worth its high price. The prices vary from $100 to $1000 and more, but still you never know how many years this knife will serve you, and thus how extensive your savings will be in future thanks to this knife.

Titanium knives and diving

Knives for divers are usually made of two types of metals - steel and titanium. Since titanium is a corrosion-resistant metal, you don't have to clean it after you dive. It's enough to wipe it with a dry napkin and that's all, even if you dive in salt water. You can forget about such problems as rust on your blade, and it's very convenient for professional divers. Knives with a steel blade will be a good alternative for the beginners, but, anyway, the choice is yours. And again, there is a problem of high price, and you will have to overcome it to purchase your titanium knife.
